You might recognize me from my previous platform, Beautyandthebumpnyc.com, where I’ve covered topics ranging from family, pregnancy, travel, and more. While I absolutely loved sharing those aspects of my life, I’m excited to dive into headfirst – cars! So, here at WhatDrivesKim.com, you won’t find any parenting content. Instead, you can expect car reviews, round-ups, advice on car buying, tips for keeping your family safe on the road, and of course, thrilling tales of adventure from the perspective of a married, working Black millennial mom of two daughters.
Get to Know Me as a Car Influencer
Before we get into the nitty-gritty of WhatDrivesKim.com, let me share a bit about myself. I’ve had the privilege of driving some incredible cars over the years, and a few that stand out as personal favorites include the Ford Bronco, Porsche 718 Cayenne GTS, Acura MDX, Lincoln Nautilus, and the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, and a few others.
Currently, my daily ride is an Acura RDX, chosen for its impressive performance, sleek styling, top-notch safety features, and unwavering reliability. You’ll quickly learn that I have a soft spot for SUVs, mainly because I’m on the shorter side and absolutely love the feeling of sitting up high on the road. Don’t be surprised, though, if you catch me daydreaming about fast cars because while I have a need for speed, I’m also a responsible and cautious driver.
Fun fact: I didn’t get my driver’s license until the age of 30. Growing up in Brooklyn, where public transportation rules and parking spaces are scarce, I simply didn’t need one. But once I got behind the wheel, I never looked back. In July 2023, I even took on the challenge of learning to drive a manual (stick shift) on the Ford Bronco and Mustang Dark Horse from a Ford NASCAR driver at that! Driving manual vehicles is like a lost art, and I’m determined to keep it alive!
A Family Legacy of Cars
My love for cars isn’t just a recent discovery; it’s deeply rooted in my family history. My father was the proud owner of some seriously cool muscle cars, with one that always stood out in my memory – his Chevelle. Those early memories of revving engines and open roads are what initially sparked my passion for all things automotive.
